Getting Started
Is DockDogs right for you?
Everyone and their dog is welcome at Las Vegas DockDogs!
The best way to get started is to bring your dog out to any event, whether it is a competition event, or private practice. There are always plenty of volunteers to help you get started.
Tips for beginning jumpers...
If your dog is a beginner and is hesitant to jump off the dock, which is 2 feet above the water and rather intimidating at first, we recommend you take him down the ramp first. This not only builds his confidence, but also teaches him where the exit for the pool is....this is very important to help him feel safe.

We encourage newbies to come out to one private practice, events or meetings before you commit to joining the Las Vegas DockDogs. This gives you and your dog a chance to see if this is the right sport for you. Once you are sure, check out the ‘Why Join’ page which has all of the membership information....or feel free to ask one of our many volunteers about becoming a member.

Can I rent the dock/pool to test the waters?
If you’d like some individual time for your dog to become familiar with the dock, please click here to find out how you can use the pool/dock for one free private practice with your dog! In addition, you can also reserve more practice time for a donation, which goes towards the club. You don’t need to be a member of Las Vegas DockDogs Club to rent the pool, however, if you’d like more time on the dock, please consider joining the club as we have regular monthly practices!
